A further milestone is the commissioning of the converter in 1984, which makes the plant one of the most modern steel casting foundries in Germany. Nevertheless, C. Grossmann AG is hit by a serious crisis in the nineties. Fallings prices and rising costs drain the company’s resources. Attempts to relocate cost-intensive areas to less expensive locations fail. Only in 1999, following intensive restructuring and a change of the company’s legal form to C. Grossmann Stahlguss GmbH does the company come into calmer waters again.
